LOGISTICS AND PRACTICAL MATTERS
• Where is the preschool located?
We are located inside the Beausejour Early Years School at 900 James Avenue in Beausejour, MB.
• What ages do you serve?
HTNC is designed and intended for children aged 3 and 4.
• What are your hours of operation?
3 year olds
Morning Session = Tuesday/Thursday 8:50 am – 11:30 am
Afternoon Session = Tuesday/Thursday 12:35 pm – 3:15 pm
Each child will be assigned a drop off & pick up time.
4 year olds
Morning Session = Monday/Wednesday 8:50 am – 11:30 am
Afternoon Session = Monday/Wednesday 12:35 pm – 3:15 pm

• When can I pick up my child?
Children can be picked up at the end of the session. If a child needs to be picked up earlier, this is no problem. Please let the staff know in advance.
• Where can we park at the preschool?
Parking is available to the north of the school. Please do not park in the staff parking lot, as these are reserved paid spaces.
• Who can bring/pick up my child from school?
Parents/Guardians bring and transfer care of the child to the teacher directly. The child’s name is recorded upon drop-off and pick-up. Children will be released only to those people designated in writing by the parent/guardian on the registration form.
• Does my child need to be toilet-trained to attend preschool?
Children MUST be potty-trained and in underwear prior to starting at the preschool. Of course, we know that accidents can happen! Please provide spare clothing in your child’s backpack just in case.
• For which days does the school close?
The school is closed on government holidays. i.e. Thanksgiving Day, Family Day, Christmas Break, Spring Break, July & August.
Also, the HTNC follows the Sunrise School Divisional Policy “Divisional Procedure: Weather Related School Closure” with regard to weather-related school closures. In short, the policy indicates that school will be closed due to Extreme Road Conditions (i.e., when Sunrise area roads are deemed “Travel Not Advised” by roads are unsafe for all vehicular travel) and/or Cold Weather Conditions (i.e., temperatures are -35 degrees Celsius or colder [without wind chill] or -45 degrees or colder wind chill).
Families will be notified by the Remind Message APP or those parents NOT LINKED to the Remind app will receive a phone call of school closures in the morning. (Please keep your contact information up to date!)
TUITION AND FEES
• What are the fees to enroll my child at the preschool?
HTNC is a government funded preschool, which allows us to keep our fees accessible for all families. Beginning on April 2, 2023, Manitoba will reduce the regulated parent fees announced by the Government. The new regulated fee is $5.00 per class effective April 2, 2023. There is an annual $20 non-refundable administrative fee and a $5.00 Co-op fee (for new members only) that will be collected at the time of registration.
Families can also apply to be subsidy funded at https://www.gov.mb.ca/fs/childcare, select families, then subsidy for more information and to apply.
• How can we pay the tuition?
The tuition can be paid in full with a cheque, cash or e-transfer.
* 75 x $5.00 = $375.00
Installments: 2 equal payments made by postdated cheque or e-transfer, due 1st of the month in September, & February.
* 75 x $5.00 = $375.00 / 2 payments = $187.50/payment
Monthly pre-authorized debit (PAD) from your bank. Please bring voided cheque to gather your account number and transit number.

10 postdated cheques, dated the 1st of each month (September - June). All MUST be handed in at registration.

CLASSROOM
• What foods can we pack for snack time?
We encourage parents/guardians to pack a small nutritious snack.
Example 1: Yogurt, crackers and cheese, cucumber slices
Example 2: Apple sauce, rice cake, mandarin orange
Example 3: Muffin, ½ banana, carrot sticks
Water will be provided as a beverage option to the children.
Please keep in mind that HTNC is a peanut/tree nut & fish-free facility. (If there are other allergies in the classroom during a certain session we will let families know.)
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
• Can families get involved?
Yes please! Happy Time Nursery Co-op Inc. was started by a group of local parents, and remains a charity, parent cooperative. Parents/Guardians can participate in the school by on the Board of Directors, helping with fundraising activities, and accompanying children on planned field trips or during special party events. This is also a great way to get to know other parents and children!
• What are the expectations in fundraising? Where do the funds go?
We encourage all families to participate in the preschool’s fundraising efforts. The Fundraising Committee provides a variety of methods for the families to take part in. We make it fun and we support each other in our efforts. Past initiatives have included World’s Finest Chocolates, 50/50 Tickets, Broken head Meats, Bothwell Cheese & MR. Perogy sale, and Little Caesars Pizza, etc. Any help running these fundraising events is always gratefully received! In the past, fundraising money and charitable donations have been used towards programming, new toys and books, furniture and improving classroom facilities.
• I’m ready to donate! How do I do this?
There are many ways to donate. We graciously accept cash, and cheque.
A charity tax receipt will be issued to you for any amount over $20.
• How do you communicate with the families?
Families are kept up to date with newsletters (via a printed copy in the parent communication bags). In the case of weather-related school closures, the families will be notified by the Remind Messaging App or a phone call if not linked to the Remind Messaging App.
